Furfuryl alcohol is a primary organic compound containing a furan substituted with a hydroxymethyl group. Furfural is an almond-scented, oily, colorless liquid that turns yellow to dark brown when exposed to air. Therefore oxidation, esterification, and etherification are its typical reactions. It is miscible with but unstable in water. It is soluble in common organic solvents. It can be mixed with water and many organic solvents such as Alcohol, Ether, Acetone etc but not dissolved in paraffin wax and other hydrocarbon products.
